Ever So Nice!

We all like divergent posts, since they take our attention away from whatever the main point is. Now that I think about it, this can’t possibly be a divergent post, because my blog is geared towards my random ramblings, which is quite random (can you picture me squinting my eyes saying random now?)

Now, I don’t have a full license yet, and I don’t have any money whatsoever (and yet I am still part of the world’s ~3% population getting the riches), so having me ramble about a car is nothing to be ecstatic about. Nor is it anything anyone would give a sod about. But what gets me the giggles recently, for the past week or so, is the ever-so growing fantasy of the Honda Fit (Jazz for EU and JDM), which is…to say the least, the youngest and smallest Honda car available. Coming in at around $14k (base), it’s got a lot of room for customization, and with the EPA fuel-efficiency (FE) estimate of around 7.0L combined (7.0L/100km; 34mpg Imperial), it’s got that va-va-voom going in my heart for it.

Now, when I get a little obsessive-compulsive about a material thing on the markets, I’ll usually run about and search for videos of mods and funny/cool commercials. In Australia, they’ve an advertising campaign for the Jazz called “The Ever So Nice Jazz”, which is a 60-second long commercial, reminding all of us of Thomas the Tank Engine (I think that was the name… 🙁 ).

Here’s the vid:

What’s interesting in the developing world of mo-sport in Japan is the modifications made to a L15 Fit (that’s the uh, kind of standard engine) that makes it capable to over-take an NSX and RX7. Proof that its not always the car that wins the race, but the skills of the driver (in this case, Ichiro Noblesse). While I have a personal bias and vendetta against Civics (instilled/brainwashed by Hybs), I have no ill-intent towards the Fit (even though the Civic hybrid makes me swoon at the FE).

One thing I do take back though, are my previous comments on the Fit’s appearance. I had previously stated (around when the 1G Fit came out) that it looked awkward, and was looking forward to the 2008/2009 redesign from the JDM market. Now that I look at it, the 1G’s don’t look that bad and, hell, even look hawt. The 09 redesigns make the nose seem really cramped, and causes the Fit to be borderline resembling a Yaris (HERESY!), and the rear a little STRANGE (see how I avoided “awkward”?), like a Mercedes A-class (or was it B-class?).

I’m just waiting for when I can start life as a Hypermiler.

HEY!

I for one, happen to LIKE the Yaris!! Not the sedan version, mind you, but the little one that allows the driver to go zippity zip in a random meadow, in attempts of winning two fair maidens’ affections…

We got a Yaris, so I’m pretty biased about this.

No, I haven’t driven it into a meadow…yet 🙂

The only thing I don’t like is the fact that the speedometer (and all the other ‘o-meters’, etc) is smack in the middle of the dashboard, so everyone in the car has a good view of how fast the driver is going…haha.
