[ORIGINAL] Beautifulofyourself

I should really get that audio plug-in for WordPress, so songs can be streamed. That, or finally get started on my coding project.

This song is called “Beautifulofyourself”, and was written and recorded over a 3-4 day span at the wee hours of night (or morning?). For those that have me on MSN, you’d have noticed this title/phrase in my name for quite some time. I’ve been meaning to use it in one of my songs for quite some time, and here we finally are. “Beautifulofyourself” is actually a slight play-on/mash-up of words (ie. beautiful of yourself/beauty full of yourself/beautiful full of yourself) and definitely describes the vanity that we all hold. I’ll admit, with this song being upbeat compared with my other stuff, it was quite hard (even for myself) to multi-task.

Lyrics:

I used to write beautiful songs for beautiful people, beautiful lands with beautiful steeples,
but its cause you’re beautiful I write this song today.

People used to say “Pretty you” and “pretty me”, not “pretty us” — we could never be.
I’ve wondered why, and wiped my eye, but you see…
I know that its cause:

You’re beautiful, beautifulofyourself; beautiful, beautifulofyourself…

I used to have beautiful dreams with beautiful people — ran like movies or series episodes.
Last night’s was about you and me… you’d never think to see!
You were there, and I was here,
got together and I brushed your hair (from your face),
we thought we kissed but in fact we missed, but you see I know that its cause:

You’re beautiful, beautifulofyourself; beautiful, beautifulofyourself…

You’re beautiful like angels…
She’s so beautifulofherself, I don’t know why.
You’re beautiful like angels…
We’re so beautifulofourselves, let’s gaze into the sky.
Cause You’re beautiful…
We’re so beautifulofourselves.
Cause You’re beautiful…
We’re so beautifulofourselves.
She’s so beautifulofherself…
He’s so beautifulofhimself…
I’m so beautifulofmyself.

Hillsong’s “I Heart Revolution”

When I heard about/saw Joel Houston talk about Hillsong’s “I Heart Revolution”, about how it was going to be a triple-pronged media package (eventually)…I couldn’t help but think that this was some sort of monetary-based project.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with publishing as much stuff as you can about global missions/ministry…but we all know that Hillsong’s stuff usually hits the $22+ mark with new material.

But here’s the information I got from the YMZ newsletter, which talks about how their movie “We’re All IN This Together”, which is a ‘pre-cursor to their DVD’ will be showing in Cineplex theatres soon.

Australia’s Hillsong United often speaks of the transformation that God does in our hearts when we accept Christ. Now the popular rock worship band are calling those whose lives have been redeemed to join the revolution, the I Heart Revolution.

On Wednesday, May 21st, 50 Cineplex theatres across Canada will be premiering We’re All In This Together, the band’s feature length documentary, which will instigate the I Heart Revolution movement across Canada. We’re All In This Together was created to inspire this generation and youth ministries to respond to injustice in their local communities and take responsibility as God’s hands and feet on the planet. Highlights include commentary from Hillsong United and excerpts from the band’s worship nights around the world. Click here for the list of theatres.

The screenings will be the precursor to the release of the double DVD set of the documentary which will be available at Christian retailers across Canada on June 3rd. The first DVD has a 45-plus minute documentary showing the band ministering around the world. The second DVD features 14 live worship moments of favourite United songs recorded over the last few years as the band shared compassion and love to people in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. It will also include new studio recordings as bonus tracks.

Tickets for the screenings will be on sale starting April 4th. Hillsong United will be hosting a worship conference at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in downtown Toronto on August 29th and 30th. Visit Unite Productions for more details.

View the trailers from the documentary in the YMZ Media section.

And about the With Hearts As One CD coming out April 1st:

“Every generation needs a revolution… and this one needs to look, sound, walk and breathe like love…it’s not a new concept… it’s an eternal concept…it’s the reason we are alive…it’s the fundamental call of what it means to be a follower of Christ. So that’s the call…that’s the mission…that’s what this is all about…a generation expressing their worship; more so expressing their heart for worship in the action of love… toward God… and toward the world we live in…and in the people who inhabit it.”
-Joel Houston

Best-selling worship band Hillsong United is back with a new project to help spread their encouraging message of The I Heart Revolution. This 2 CD release is made up of 28 Hillsong United favourite songs recorded live over the last few years as the band shared compassion and love to people in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia.

This 2CD set also includes new studio recordings as bonus tracks.

For some reason, I can’t just help but feel that Hillsong’s is finally banking out on us (this is my opinion), but I guess you can say the same towards Thousand Foot Krutch, most of the other Christian musicians/authors and the Nooma series. What are the boundaries between producing material that will definitely encourage brothers and sisters to serve and producing material for some green?

(Note that this information was seen once I woke up…so maybe I need to view this information in a brighter light and expand my mind?)

[COVER] Name

Last night I felt the urge to listen to some random Goo Goo Dolls (I think?) and I stumbled upon their acoustic version of “Name” while on Radio Blog Club. And so while in the wee hours of the night I decided to learn how this song goes…and when I woke up, I played it again quietly while people were still sleeping.

It isn’t exactly an easy or hard song to play, but the way Johnny sings was brutal at the beginning, since there was a lot of off-beat-ness…add that in with the soothing guitar ballad (PLAYED WITHOUT A PICK), and things normally get complicated fast. Honestly, I re-recorded more than 10 times because I didn’t get one part absolutely correct — even now I am not 100% pleased with the recording, but here we are.

Turns out this is a love song…hrmmmmmmm.
