Loosely based on MacArthur’s message on our lifelong battle against sin, and how we, although having being made a new creation, have our old body of decay strapped to our backs.
So saving faith always grows in a heart humbled for sin, in a weeping eye and a tearful conscience.

Lifelong Battle

“Come out, Lazarus! Unbind his hands and free his feet.”
Bound in our grave clothes, the stench of death remains;
Strapped to my back, my old body of decay.
I must walk in the Spirit, I cannot here remain.
From one degree of glory, to another I must change.
Humble my heart, make my eyes week, crying in conscience;
I need You, Lord, to grow my saving faith complete.
Oh Jesus, for my sin and sake You died.
You rose again in three days; in You alone is new life.
Take away the old and give me new!
