1/17/2010 Sunday

I should really make a stronger attempt at sharing the [crappy] notes I’ve made during sermons this year, and so I shall start today! I should actually begin with the topics at Winter Retreat, but whatever…same difference yo’. I’m just going to write these notes as I have them…

Today’s sermon was from Pastor Rick Baker, over at Calvary Baptist Church in Oshawa. The sermon is also available on the website.

You Have A Call

Every person has a purpose, just as every part of the Body has a function. One big problem with a lot of people nowadays is the general lack of direction in their lives, one big question mark of what their purpose is, or in the sense of a Christian, what their calling from God is (OK, I probably pulled a redundancy). Near the end of high school, you might have had one of those “What is my calling?” moments, deciding where you wanted to go to continue your education and what you should study, if you planned to continue at all. During university/college, you might have periods of time wondering if you’re in the right program, or what you should do once you graduate. Do I continue on with a Masters? Doctorate? Maybe I should get industry experience? How will I impact the world with my new skills? Jump past for more…

Highlights of My 2009

The sad thing about my mind is that every day blends into the next now…and I’m becoming more and more senile. In reality, I actually had to click through my blog to see what eventful things I blogged about in order to remember when they occurred!

  • Passion video series with friends (wait for more to come!)
  • plenty of job-related firsts (like…working, doing a mini-Capstone, working, getting paid)
  • first birthday celebration in several years (Track 21 was nice; Track 22 is most likely going to be better!)
  • recorded and compiled my first “album” (ironic I finally did this instead of doing my smaller EP)
  • bought my first audio recording equipment (I still don’t have crazy ass mics though. Um, I mean crazy NICE mics, not buttocks mics…)
  • [on a deeper note] got my heart broken, but learned so much more about it
  • [on a deeper note] began to see the hypocrisy of some people’s lives and my own
  • fully G licensed
  • drove to the airport (My drive from Oshawa2Pearson: 65mins. Back: 50mins)
  • drove to Wonderland and back (And had great sushi times with some good people!)
  • Got a platinum trophy (Uncharted 2)
  • first visit to the CN Tower and climbing it (19:22)
  • first New Year’s countdown at my own friend’s place (A friend! A real friend! Wish more could have came though…)

What are some of your most memorable 2009 moments? Did I miss one we shared together? Post em in the comments below! (:
